When you hook a patient up to the monitor, this is the rhythm you're hoping to see: Normal Sinus Rhythm. It starts in the sinoatrial node, the heart's natural pacemaker. The signal passes through the AV node, then down the Bundle of His, and spreads through the Purkinje fibers to reach every corner of both ventricles — the same orderly path, beat after beat, keeping blood flowing efficiently. Every beat shows five parts. The small P wave as the atria contract. The PR interval — the brief pause while the signal crosses to the ventricles. The tall narrow QRS as the ventricles fire and push blood out. The ST segment, a quiet pause before recovery. And the rounded T wave as the ventricles reset. To call it normal sinus, check three things. The rate sits between sixty and one hundred beats per minute. The rhythm is regular, so the spacing between beats stays even.
