FinOps is a word that gets used a lot without being explained. So here's what it actually means, in a form you can repeat. FinOps is how an organisation manages cloud spending. The name is short for Financial and DevOps, the collaboration between business and engineering teams. Work goes better when people who used to sit apart work from the same information. It exists because cloud changed how we buy technology. We stopped buying and started renting, and the amount changes daily.
