Normal sinus rhythm starts in the SA node, firing sixty to one hundred beats per minute, with a P wave before every QRS. Sinus bradycardia is a sinus rhythm under sixty beats per minute. The pattern stays regular, just slower. Watch for dizziness, fatigue, or fainting when the rate drops too low. It can be perfectly normal in athletes or during sleep, but it may also signal medication effects or heart block. Sinus tachycardia is a sinus rhythm above one hundred beats per minute, still with a P wave before every QRS. But each rapid beat gives the heart less time to fill. It's the body's answer to exercise, fever, pain, anxiety, or blood loss, a symptom, not the disease itself.
